Albert "Al" Charles Allen

Albert "Al" Allen, 80, of Zanesville, died at 3:03 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at his residence. He was born December 1, 1930, in Zanesville, a son of the late Frank W. and Beatrice E. Hamilton Allen. He graduated from Lash High School. He retired after 37 years of service for General Electric and after 17 years of service in the Maintenance Department for Colony Square Mall. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was a United States Navy Korean Conflict Veteran. He enjoyed bowling, cats, watching deer in his backyard and spending time with his grandson. Surviving are a daughter, Linda (Carl) Robinson of Zanesville; a grandson, David Robinson of Zanesville; a brother-in-law, Jim (Pat) Roberts of Nashport; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Abbey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjory J. Roberts Allen, who died September 11, 2000; and two brothers, Roy and Bill. Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville with Rev. Mark Combs officiating. Albert will be laid to rest next to his wife, Marjory, at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. The United States Navy in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058 will hold full military rites at the graveside.
