Alfred J. Anderson

Alfred J. Anderson, 74, of Brownsville, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Genesis Hospice-Morrison House after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 18, 1934, in Roseville, the son of the late Leo R. and Elsie Baughman Anderson. He retired after 30 years of service as an assembly line worker for Rockwell International. He was a member of New Life Apostolic Church in Glenford, where he served as an usher and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Updegrave Anderson of the home; three sons, Jeffrey (Dianna) Anderson of Roseville, Thomas (Amanda) Anderson and Samuel Anderson, both of Zanesville; a daughter, Georgina (James) Norman of Las Vegas, Nevada; four step sons, Frank Updegrave of St. Petersburg, Florida, John (Laura) Updegrave of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Jack (Keyona) Updegrave and Joseph (Rose) Updegrave, both of Zanesville; two step daughters, Darlene (Bill) Thompson of St. Charles, MO and Heidi (Scott) Abel of Cooperdale, OH.; 10 grandchildren; 14 step grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 12 step great grandchildren; two brothers, Glenn (Ruth) Anderson and Farrel (Sharon) Anderson, both of Roseville; two sisters, Ina Mae Komaromy and Frances (James) Guthrie, both of Blue Rock; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kay Southall Anderson; a son, Steven Anderson and two brothers, Bernard Anderson and Leonard Anderson. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. today, September 12, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2008 at the funeral home with Pastor Mattias Garza officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Horeb Cemetery, Crooksville.
