Alfred E Eppley

Alfred E. Eppley, 79, of Lancaster, died at 7:41 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. He was born December 15, 1931, in Zanesville, a son of the late Howard J. and Helen Bernadette Durant Eppley. He retired after 35 years of service as the Southeastern Ohio District Manager for Ohio Bell Telephone. He was a member of the St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Telephone Pioneers of America, VFW and K of C. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, loved to travel and had been to all 50 states. He was a former resident of Florida for 15 years and had built two homes himself. He was a United States Navy Korean Conflict Veteran. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Donna 'Dee' Weissert Eppley, whom he married September 8, 1951, of the home; a daughter, Mary Lynn (Rick) Honsberger of Lancaster, OH; two granddaughters, Arren (Danny) McDonald of Murray City, OH and Lisa (Joel) Trimmer of Columbus, OH; four great grandchildren, Andrew McDonald, Alex McDonald and Christopher McDonald, all of Murray City, OH and Tyler Trimmer of Columbus, OH; a brother, Howard Eppley of Inverness, FL; three nieces and one nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian Galligher and Betty Dennis; and a brother, William Eppley. Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2011 at the funeral home with Father Martin Ralko and his son-in-law, Pastor Rick Honsberger officiating. Alfred will be laid to rest in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville. The United States Navy in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058 will hold full military rites at the graveside.
