Alvin R. Melvin

Alvin Russell "Rusty" Melvin, 55, of Zanesville, died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at his residence. He was born April 1, 1954, in Zanesville, a son of the late Alvin L. and LaVerne Randles Melvin. He retired after 26 years of service as a truck driver for Putnam Transfer and was employed as a bus driver for Maysville Local School District. He was a member of Fair Oaks Baptist Church and the Teamsters Union #437. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Deborah A. Bugosh Melvin, whom he married April 21, 1973, of the home; two sons, Stacey (Misty) Melvin and Andrew (Tara) Melvin, both of Roseville; 4 grandchildren, Austin, Brooke, Paige and Kody; six sisters, Rebecca Gibson of Blue Rock, Beverly (Albert) Bobb of Zanesville, Debbie (Sherman) Hicks of Spencer, Indiana, Tammy (Walter) Harvey of Indianapolis, Indiana, Janice Melvin and Maxine Melvin, both of Zanesville; a brother, Raleigh (Pam) Melvin of Zanesville; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dogs, Rocky, Kacey, Peanut and Shadow. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Melvin; and a nephew, Russell Melvin. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow at Wesley Union Cemetery, White Cottage.
