Alvin E. “Stoney” Stoneburner, 97, Zanesville went to be with the Lord February 15, 2021 at his sons home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 3, 1923 in Deavertown, Ohio, the son of the late Theron and Bertha Allard Stoneburner. He graduated from York High School in 1941. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII in the Philippines on the LSM 68. He worked at Zanesville City Schools over 32 years and retired in 1987. He was an active member of First Assembly of God Church of Zanesville for over 70 years. He was a board member in the church for many years. He also served the church as the church custodian for 42 years until he was 85. He was married to Lois Sullivan Stoneburner for 68 years. They married April 8, 1944 and were married until her passing May 23, 2012. He is survived by Daughter -in-law, Nancy Sharkey Stoneburner of Buford GA; son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Kay Evec Stoneburner of Zanesville; daughter-in-law, Bette Ann Schuster Stoneburner of Zanesville; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Stoneburner Francis and Steve Francis of Zanesville; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Julie Smith Stoneburner of Loudon, TN; 12 grandchildren, Marla, Marty, Matthew, Michelle, Michael, Mitchell, Melanie, Stephanie, Shannon, McClain, Micah and Maria and 21 great grandchildren, Colton, Slade, Emmah, Ellah, Madison, Isabella, Emily, Caiden, Chase, Mia, Jaxson, Cooper, Tucker, Brinkley, Carson, Jace, Beckham, Talon, Giana, Titus, Marlon and Great Great Granddaughter Kinsley Diane Stoneburner. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his sons Marion Stoneburner and Myron Stoneburner; and sister, Rhea Stoneburner Ogg and brother, Mark Stoneburner. Family and friends will be received on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at Bolin- Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville and one hour prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with Pastor Jim Peters officiating. Alvin will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville. Full military honors will be accorded to him by the United States Navy, VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29 at 10:50 A.M. Saturday on the front lawn of the funeral home.
