Amanda L. Evec, age 81, of New Concord, Ohio, a former Zanesville resident, died at 2:12 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2005 at her residence. She was born February 16, 1923 in Zanesville, the daughter of the late George K.and Mary E. Cheetam Ford. She was a nurse for Dr. Philip Elliott for thirty years until his retirement. Mrs. Evec was a member of the VFW Aux. where she held numerous offices,and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion where she held numerous positions. She was an avid bowler and golfer and one of only two women inducted into the Zanesville District Golf Association Hall of Fame. Surviving are a daughter, Kay (Marvin) Stoneburner of Zanesville, two sons, Kenneth (Carolyn) Evec of Beaufort, SC., and Steven M. Evec of New Concord, a sister, Judy Porter of MS., nine grandchildren, Andy, Adam, Aaron, Anthony, Stephen and Jaycee Evec, Maureen Newton, Marla Blum, and Marty Stoneburner,five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Andrew T. (Andy) Evec, a sister Dot Kossler and two brothers, Rex Ford and Jack Ford. Friends may call 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. A caring cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care.
