Anita Caryn Baker, 55, of Zanesville, died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 11:30 p.m. at her home surrounded by her family. She was born August 22, 1954 in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of Eileen Reiter Farber and the late Harold Farber. She worked for Zanesville City Schools System teaching 1st Grade at National Road School. She was a member of the Beth Abraham Synagogue, Zanesville Education Association and Ohio Education Association. She loved teaching. She was a graduate of Brooklyn College with a B.A. in Education and received her Masters in Education from Marygrove College. Surviving are her husband, John D. Baker, whom she married October 1, 1999, of the home; her mother, Eileen Reiter Farber; two daughters, Amanda Fries of Columbus, and Sarah Fries of Zanesville; three sons, John (Winona) Baker, Jason (Amber) Baker and Joshua Baker all of Columbus; three grandchildren, Alex, Haylie and Kaedin; a brother, Glenn (Farley) Farber of Silver Springs, MD. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Holley Baker; a granddaughter, Izabella Baker; a mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eddice and John Baker; a close friend, Elsie Stewart and her kitties, Sanford Michael and Alexander Chester. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2009 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the funeral home with Rabbi Jeffrey Elson officiating. Burial will follow at Beth Abraham Jewish Cemetery.
