Ann Elaine Hartshorn, 54, of Zanesville, was healed after her long fight with cancer when she was safely delivered in the arms of her heavenly Father at 6:30 A.M., on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Mt. Carmel East, Columbus. Ann was surrounded in her last days on earth by much love. Her family thanks you for ongoing care and support. She was born October 4, 1962, a daughter of Sara Jean Crist Wise and the late Charles Franklin Wise. She was a teachers aide for seventeen years at Starlight School, receptionist for WHIZ TV, secretary at First Methodist Church, and church musician for Fair Oaks Baptist Church, First Christian Church in Cambridge, and Market Street Baptist Church where she was a member. She served on the board of Zanesville Memorial Concert Band, was a member of Muskingum Chapter #485 Eastern Star. In addition, she served on the worship team for numerous national, state, and regional events for American Baptist Womens Ministries. Ann was an active member of the music and theater community. She played piano and bass in the Rich Simcox Big Band and the Rusty Knights. Ann gave of her time and talents to several area high schools playing for their musicals and students for solos and ensemble contests. She was the musical director or played in the band for numerous theatrical events in Zanesville, Cambridge, and Newark. The Ohio Community Theatre Association awarded Ann the Spirit of Community Theatre Award for dedication, excellence, and over 30 years of service. She was an avid cook and loved planning gatherings for family and friends especially at Christmas where her morning brunches and cheeseballs were legendary. She is survived by her loving husband, Stephen L. Hartshorn whom she married June 18, 2005; a sister, Sheryl L. Wise; and good friends Liddy Kirkbride, Janelle and Stu Williams, Dakota McConaha and Hannah McCandless, Roxanne Lewis, the Chad Stemm family, faithful dog Maggie, and many furry felines. Ann will be welcomed to heaven by maternal grandparents, Homer and Clara Crist; paternal grandparents Harry and Aara Wise; paternal step-grandmother Bernice Wise; and many other family members and friends. A Cremation-With-Care has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held on July 8, 2017 at Market Street Baptist Church, Zanesville. Calling hours will be from 2:00-4:00 P.M., with the celebration at 4:00 P.M. followed by a potluck dinner at 6:00 P.M.
