Arthur E. Ankrum, 91, of Zanesville died Monday, March 7, 2005 at The Inn at North Hills. He was born February 28, 1914 at Newark, a son of the late Earl J. & Eva L. Brookover Ankrum. He was raised in Gratiot and graduated from Brownsville High School. He retired after 36 years as Sears Farm Store Manager located on 6th Street. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he had been very active and dedicated in various capacities including Couples Class, Board Member, Sunday School Secretary, Trustee and was a member of Grace United Methodist Senior Owls Club. He served in the United States Air Force in World War II with the f Quarter Master Corp serving in Hobbs, New Mexico and as Airways Communications in Alaska and was honorably discharged in March 6, 1946. He served and enjoyed for 30 years being a member of the Transport Volunteer at Genesis Bethesda Hospital. Surviving are his loving wife, Evelyn L. Dick Ankrum, whom he married July 1, 1937, a daughter, Rhonda ( Robert II) Todd of Zanesville and a son, Roderick ( Hazel ) Ankrum of Houston, Texas, four grandchildren, Robert L. Todd,III, Austin C. Todd, Kimberly ( Chris ) Wilson and Tracy Ankrum and two great grandsons. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward & Elden Ankrum. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005 with Rev. Tim Patton officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park with full military honors being provided by VFW George Selsam Post 1058. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or to Genesis Hospice.
