Arthur M. Garrett, 76, of Zanesville died at 2:11 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2005 at Willow Haven Care Center. He was born May 9, 1928, a son of the late Francis and Agnes Garrett. He was retired from the Air Force, having served 20 years in the regular Air Force and 10 years in the reserves. Mr. Garrett was the recipient of numerous medals and ribbons which include World War II Victory Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Korean Service Medal with two Battle Stars, United Nations Medal, Japanese Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Cluster, Good Conduct Medal with 4 Knots, The Air Force Good Conduct Medal, The Air Force Longevity Service with four clusters. Recently, Mr. Garrett received in the mail a Korean War Service Medal and a letter of appreciation from the Republic of Korea signed by The President of the Republic of Korea, Kim Dae-Jung. Through his expertise with radar Landing Systems and direction finding equipment, Mr. Garrett was responsible for saving over a dozen lives. He was a member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church. Surviving are two children, a brother, Franklin Garrett of Zanesville and a sister Grace Marie Hostteler of Michigan. No calling hours of services will be held. A caring cremation has taken place. Grave side services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at Greenwood Cemetery, in New Soldiers Field, with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 providing full military rites at the grave.
