Avery W. Green, 84, of Zanesville, died at 1:40 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born March 28, 1928, in Coshocton, a son of the late Glen and Fern Bassett Green. He retired as a supervisor for Exco Land Excavating Co. and had worked for Peabody Coal, Mack Mining Co., Horizon Mining Co. and was the former owner of Green's Nursery in West Lafayette. He was a member of the Operating Engineers for over 30 years and was a United States Army Veteran. Surviving are three daughters, Wyviona (Gale) Sauser of Stonecreek, Christy (Mark) Weaver of Nashport and Susie McDaniel of Alliance; two sons, Adrain (Sally) Green of West Lafayette and Bobby (Kris) Green of Nashport; fourteen grandchildren, Marty (Marcia) Sauser , Troy (Chasity) Sauser and Chad (Gillian) Sauser, all of Stonecreek, Cisco (Alex) Newell of Trinway, Andy (Maegen) Clough and Shania Weaver, both of Nashport, Wade (Amber) Green and Shelly (Gary) McCullough, both of West Lafayette, Julie Shingleton of Coshocton, Shane Green of Nashport, Shaun (Melissa) Green of Coshocton, Alexis Green of Newcomerstown, Wally (Kim) Davis of Lewisville and Christopher McDaniel of Alliance; nine great grandchildren and two on the way, Traxton Sauser, Ryan Sauser, Gabby Newell, Estella Newell, Ashley Green, Brittany Bradford, Shawna Haines, Danny and Billy Davis; four brothers, Chester (Janice) Green of Baltic, Bob (Sue) Green of Steubenville, Larry (Christy) Green of New Philadelphia and Louie (June) Green of Massillon; three sisters, Betty (Don) Petty of Silver Springs, FL, Louise (Nelson) Helnuy of Fort McCoy, FL and Lois Gordon of New Philadelphia; close friend, Steve (Debbie) Newell of Zanesville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wyviona O. "Bonnie" Phillips Green, who died October 8, 2011; and two brothers, Billy and Alvie Green.
