Barbara E. Russell

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Barbara E. Russell, 89, of Melbourne, Florida formerly of Zanesville, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at William Child’s Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida. She was born August 10, 1935, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Carl H. and Evelyn (Dobbins) Waxler. She graduated from Lash High School and retired from Muskingum County Job and Family Services after more than thirty years of service. Barbara lived a life of service and volunteered her time to numerous local organizations including the Soroptimist International and The Salvation Army.

She is survived by a son, Robert A. Russell; a daughter, Rhonda L. (Anthony) Landolfi; granddaughters, Jennifer Nabb and Heather Nabb; great-granddaughter, Jayla Richardson; special niece, Barbara Rinkes; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Robert E. Russell, whom she married January 8, 1952; a sister, Betty Wolfe; a brother, Carl E. ”Sonny” Waxler Jr.; and a granddaughter, Amanda Nabb.

Friends and family may call from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, with Rev. Laureen A. Roe officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Bob at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
