Barbara Anne (Englehart) Trout

August 8, 1925 — March 27, 2011

Barbara Anne Englehart Trout, 85, of Zanesville, joined her Lord and Savior at 5:55 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital emergency room after a long illness. She was born August 8, 1925, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late John Henry and Mary Louise Schultheis Englehart. Barbara graduated from Zanesville High School Class of 1943. She worked briefly for the Girl Scouts before joining The Ohio Bell Telephone Company, where she served 43 years. After retirement in 1987, she enjoyed many years of traveling, reading and spending time with her family and pets. She was a devoted and lifetime member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, where she served on church council, worked with Head Start, participated in leadership for the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and formed long-lasting friendships with her fellow members, particularly those in her ladies' Circle and Bible Study groups. She believed deeply in community service and volunteered for many years at Bethesda Hospital and Genesis HealthCare Systems. She was a past president of the Zanesville Business and Professional Women's Club and enjoyed serving in various leadership capacities with Soroptomists of Zanesville, Telephone Pioneers of America Ohio Valley Chapter 80, Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL, now Thrivent) Lamplighters and the Muskingum County Literacy Council. Surviving are her children, Sue E. Imhausen of Cincinnati, Mark K. (Pam) Trout of Zanesville, Amy J. (John) Gibson of Westerville and Andrew D. (Jane) Trout of Zanesville; five grandchildren, David A. Trout of Dublin, Keri L. Trout of Columbus, Brian M. Imhausen of Boston, MA and Erica E. Ezzell and Jason A. Ezzell, both of Westerville; a great granddaughter, Kasey A. Trout; a brother, Wayne K. Englehart of Zanesville; a sister, Gloria J. Englehart of Zanesville; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert B. Trout; and a brother, John J. Englehart. Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Market and N 7th St., Zanesville with Rev. Mark Combs officiating. Burial will be held at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to any of the organizations mentioned above or a charity of one's choice.
