Beatrice J. Foy Alwood, 94, of Zanesville, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at her home. She was born June 21, 1920, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late William C. and Grace Burgoon Foy. She had retired after 27 years from Stanley Home Products in 1978, was a lifelong member of Central Presbyterian Church, taught water aerobics for 15 years at the Fieldhouse, and she loved Ballroom Dancing and Golf. Surviving are her daughters Judith K. (Lee) Haecker of Sequin, TX, and Jacquilene S. Bowers of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Christine (Ken) Bhirdo, Brian (Mary) Gorley, Scott (Leslie) Gorley, Elaine (Jeff) Sproull, Jill (Kevin) Wuest, Brooke (Angel) Cabrera, Eric (Adalia) Gorley, and Andrew (Ruth) Bowers; fourteen great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and special friends, Joann Jividen, Cathy Higgenbotham, and Barbara Amstutz, all of Zanesville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John E. Alwood, whom she married April 22, 1938, and who died May 22, 1999; a daughter Sondra L. Gorley who died November 19, 2011; sisters, Pauline Vickers, Juanita Kearney, Mildred Weidig, Gertrude Cohen, Lillian Krause, Harriet Davidson, Dorothy Jean Osborne, and Margorie Grasley; brother John A. Foy; and a granddaughter Elizabeth Haecker. No calling hours will be observed; per Beatrice's wishes, a dignified cremation will take place and she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband John at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Central Presbyterian Church.
