Beatrice J. VanDyne, 90, of Zanesville, died at 8:49 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Adams Lane Care Center. She was born April 6, 1921, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Frank and Etta Viola Humphrey Sowards. She was a homemaker and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary. Surviving are a daughter, Myrna Church of Zanesville; two sons, Terry VanDyne of Ft. Myers, Florida and Jerry (Bernie) VanDyne of Coshocton; a step-son, William (Gayle) VanDyne of Zanesville; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren; and a brother, Ervin Sowards of South Zanesville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles VanDyne, who died in 1987; a son, Charles Sparkman; a son-in-law, Robert Church, two sisters, Lela Griffin and Laverna Brock; and a great grandson, Ryan Church. Friends and family may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the funeral home with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating. Beatrice will be laid to rest beside her husband, Charles, at Greenwood Cemetery, Zanesville.
