Benjamin F. Kennedy Jr., 70, of Zanesville, died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born August 20, 1938, in Zanesville, a son of Violet Mayle Kennedy of Zanesville and the late Benjamin F. Kennedy Sr. He was a graduate of South Zanesville High School Class of 1957 and a United States Army Veteran. He retired as an electrician for Shelly & Sands, had worked for CW. Taylor as a concrete finisher and also owned and operated Kennedy Construction. He was a member of the First Christian Church and was a member and past president of Eagles Lodge #302. Ben's greatest love was his wife, Sue, and going to Florida every winter. They also loved spending time with their five children and their families. Surviving are his mother, Violet Kennedy of Zanesville; five children, Ben (Martha) Kennedy III and Ann (Al) Freniere, both of Dresden, Matt (Sonya) Kennedy of Gahanna, Andy (Vicki) Kennedy of Zanesville and Jayna Kennedy of Cuyahoga Falls; ten grandchildren, Ben (Kelly) Kennedy IV, Mary (Kent) Stafford, Marley Kennedy, Jennifer Alexander, Libby Alexander, AJ Freniere, Jordan Kennedy, Kalene Kennedy, Brandi Phalen, and Chasity (Dirk) Lincicome; nine great grandchildren; six siblings, Jo Ann (Gene) Gill, Jeanie (Terry) Garrett, Fred (Roz) Kennedy, Velma Miller, Dan (Janet) Kennedy and Tim (Amy) Kennedy; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Sue Ann Paynter Kennedy, who died June 27, 2005; three siblings at birth; father and mother-in-law, Ray and Junita Paynter and a brother-in-law, Bill Paynter. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville where Eagles Lodge #302 will hold services at 5:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Neville officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. The United States Army in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058 will hold full military rites at the graveside.
