Bertha Alice Rittenhouse

November 21, 1927 — March 13, 2005

Bertha Alice Rittenhouse, age 77, on March 13, 2005 at approximately at 7:14 p.m. Bertha Alice Rittenhouse slipped from the arms of her children and took the hand of Jesus Christ her Savior and ran through the gates of Heaven. When they arrived she wasn't out of breath or in need of oxygen. She was Born November 21, 1927 a daughter of the late Ernest and Zelma Thomas. She was a member of Fair Oaks Baptist Church. She will be waiting at the gates of Heaven when her surviving children arrive. They are: Carolyn ( Rick) Grandstaff, and Buster ( Sandy ) Rittenhouse both of Zanesville, grandchildren, Vincent and Ryan Grandstaff, Michelle Hindel and Brent Rittenhouse. There are nine great grandchildren. Bertha has three surviving sisters, Fern Nethers, Eleanor Powers, Annabelle Weaver and brother-in-law, Ray Carroll and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded from life by her loving husband, Albert I. Rittenhouse, whom she married May 10, 1949, sisters, Esther Dickerson, Leona Denman, Beulah Brock and Mary Thomas, and by brothers, Ward, Carl, Earl, and Ralph Thomas. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2005 with Rev. Bob Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
