Bertha L. Spinks, 83, of Springfield, formerly of Zanesville, died at 10:53 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at her residence. She was born March 25, 1925, in Sonora, a daughter of the late Willard and Gladys Blackford Bagent. She retired after 21 years of service on the solder line for Essex Wire. She was a member of the Springfield Senior Center. Surviving are a daughter, Donna (Randy) Vandenbark of Springfield; a son, David Spinks of Springfield; a sister, Gertrude Boyer of Zanesville; a half brother, Ralph Bagent of Zanesville; 11 grandchildren, Tonald, Jonald, Ronald, Zonald, Kevin, Brent, Barry, Sandra and Terri Spinks, Shannon Willingham and Ian Vandenbark; 6 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Spinks, who died August 4, 1987; two sons, Raymond Bryslan, who died February 1992 and Donald R. Spinks, who died July 8, 1996; a brother, Foy Bagent; 3 half brothers, Clarence and George Orndroff and Robert Bagent. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, January 2, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Mitch Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
