Bessie Louise Hartman

Bessie Louise Hartman, 76, of Zanesville, died at 11:46 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Genesis Good Samaritan hospital. She was born May 21, 1930 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Franklin and Nellie Davis McBride. In Bessie's early years she was a model, worked for Ohio Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator, worked at WHIZ as a secretary and bookkeeper, was an administrator for Hartman Trucking ,worked for Dr. Gifford , then sold cosmetics for Estee Lauder and later becamea a nail technician. She was a volunteer for Bethesda Hospital, was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 55 years, VFW George Selsam Post 1058 Ladies Auxiliary, an avid seamstress, enjoyed knitting, gardening, was a wonderful gourmet cook, and she had a great love for shopping and her shoe collection. Surviving are a daughter,; Rebecca ( Jeff) Robb of Hebron, six grandchildren; Stacy (Jason) Erwine of Zanesville, Allison Robb of Covington, KY, Jeffery Robb of Hebron, Melissa (Ben) Jackson of Marysville, Rebecca ( Jarad Jackson) Robb of Marysville and Jonathan Robb of Hebron, two great grandchildren; Megan and Madison Erwine, two sisters; Olive Williams of Columbus and Kay (Bob) Gonda of Zanesville, a brother; Richard (Sandy) McBride of Zanesville, father of Rebecca; George Bailey of Zanesville; two special friends; Betty Hubbard and Eva Robbins both of Zanesville and all her Sorority Sisters. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hartman who died in 1981, two sisters; Nancy McBride and Patsy Shirer and a brother; Junior McBride. Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2006 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2006 at the funeral home with Chaplain Vernon Small officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
