Bessie E. Marple, 88, of Zanesville, died at 7:43 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan hospital. She was born July 21, 1920, in Ironspot, Ohio, a daughter of the late Floyd E. and Grace Mauller Hiles. She retired as a sales person and meat wrapper for Lucky's IGA in Arizona and the Terrace IGA store on Maple Avenue in Zanesville. She also sold Avon in the Zanesville area for many years. She was a member of the South Zanesville United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Francine (Larry) Bucci of Davenport, Florida and Sherry (David) Colwell of Daniel Island, South Carolina; a son, John F. "Jack" (Robin) Marple of Apple Valley, Minnesota; 7 grandchildren, Gary Bucci, Chad (Cheryl) Bucci, Jared, Jack and Christian, Jonathan Marple and Brant Marple; three great grandchildren, Sutton, Karsten and Rocco Bucci; and a brother, Bill E. Hiles of South Zanesville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis R. Marple, who died Jan. 1961; a sister, Juanita Hiles; and a brother, Leonard Hiles. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Orlo Freshley officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
