Betty Jean (Simeral) Garrett

November 26, 1924 — July 15, 2014

Betty Jane (nee Simeral) Garrett, 89, of Mason, Ohio (formerly of Zanesville, Ohio), July 15, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Floyd C. Garrett. Daughter of the late Harry and Martha Simeral. She is survived by her daughter Marsha (Don) Cope, granddaughters Allison (Shaun) Coe, Melissa (Mark) Wallace, step-granddaughter Nicole Cope, Step-grandson Clinton (Emily) Cope, great granddaughters Alexandra and Samantha Coe, Kelsey and Kayla Wallace, and six step-great grandchildren. Betty was truly "one of a kind" and once you met her, you never forgot her. She used her stubbornness to relearn how to walk and talk after a severe stroke she had nine years ago. Her constant companion and best buddy for the last nine years was her granddog, Bear. Visitation will be at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 18, 2014, with Mr. Chris Steele officiating. She will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. A small memorial service is also being planned for the near future for her Mason friends at the chapel of the Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village in Monroe, Ohio. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Cincinnati, Mt. Pleasant Adult Independence Day Care Center, or the Humane Society.
