Betty L. Pletcher

Betty L. Pletcher, 86, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Zanesville, passed away on May 21, 2009. Betty was born in Perry County, Ohio, to Ethel and Charles Ater in 1922. She graduated from Crooksville High School and Meredith Business College in Zanesville and attended The Ohio State University. Formerly residing in Ohio, Betty and her husband became residents of Florida in 1988. Betty retired as a Claims Representative for the Social Security Administration in 1977. While living in Zanesville, she was a member of a garden club, Good Samaritan Charity Circle, Junior Women's Club, a golf league, bridge clubs and an organ club. She was also a volunteer for Cancer, Heart and Leukemia drives. She is survived by a special niece, Sandra (Charles) Fields of Naples, Florida; a nephew, Jeffrey (Amy) Ater of Lilburn, Georgia; great nieces, Lisa Pfeiffer, Kathryn Seely, and Kelly Ater; great nephews, Brent Fields and Matthew Ater; a great-great niece, Elizabeth Pfeiffer; a great-great nephew, Casey Fields; a step son, Gary Pletcher and family Darlene, Eric and Natalie Hill, all of Texas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Robert; and husbands, Kenneth Young, who was killed in action in World War II, Richard Emery, and Robert Pletcher. Betty requested no visitation hours at the funeral home. A private memorial service for the immediate family will be held at a later date. Interment will take in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
