Betty Riggs

March 7, 1918 — September 6, 2005

Betty Riggs was born in Perry Township, Muskingum County, March 7, 1918 to the late Frank Urban and Lilia Lighthizer Urban. She spent her entire life in the community, graduating from Zanesville High School in 1936. She attended Ohio Wesleyan University and Ohio State University. Mrs. Riggs worked on the editorial staff of the Zanesville News. She was involved with various charity organizations through the years and had been a member of the Bethesda Hospital Guild from it's inception in 1939; a member of Grace United Methodist Church for over 70 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Riggs and a brother, Dr. Donald A. Urban. Mrs. Riggs is survived by two sons, Charles B. Riggs., Chicago, IL., Steven Urban Riggs of Enfield, CT., a special grand daughter, Malissa Riggs Petrov of Cincinnati, OH., and a sister in law, Flora A. Urban. Memorial services will be held Friday, September 9th at 11a.m., graveside at St. Paul's Cemetery east of Sonora. Mrs. Riggs passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home and Cremation Services , 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville are entrusted with the cremation and internment. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice- Morrison House, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
