Bonnie J. (Kirby) Cain

August 20, 1931 — July 8, 2006

Bonnie J. (Kirby) Cain, 74, of Zanesville, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2006 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 20, 1931 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Homer J.and Nellie Knapp Kirby. Bonnie graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ohio University with a Bachelors and Masters Degree and was a Jennings Scholar in 1982. She was a 58 year member of the Market Street Baptist Church, and active with the American Baptist Women's Ministries at both the state and local level. She was a retired Franklin Local School District Elementary Teacher, was a girl scout leader and enjoyed genealogy and quilting. Surviving are her loving husband, Donald L. Cain, whom she married August 27, 1950, of the home, two daughters; Susan (Robert Jr.) Stotts, Nancy (Todd) Hynds both of Zanesville; two sons, Kevin (Michele) Cain of Cincinnati and Kirby (Suzy) Cain of Springboro; five grandchildren; Tabitha Stotts, Danielle, Joshua, Nathan and Jacob Cain; a brother; James (Mary Lou) Kirby of Zanesville, two sisters; Elizabeth Holdcroft and Barbara (Don) Dunmead both of Zanesville, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law; Robert Holdcroft. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2006 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at the Market Street Baptist Church with D. Scott Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Sonora. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701 or to American Baptist Women's Ministries/ Ohio (ABWM) C/O Market Street Baptist Church, 140 North 6th Street, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
