Burl E. Hartman

Burl Eugene " Gene" Hartman, 88, of Zanesville, died at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, February 27, 2015, at his home. He was born January 1, 1927, in Zanesville, the only child of the late Bert and Ida Ball Hartman. He retired as a Teamster for Nickles Bakery, attended Trinity United Presbyterian Church, was a U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force Tech SGT Veteran serving in World War II and a member of the VFW George Selsam Post 1058. Surviving are the mother of his children, Maria T. Hartman of Newark; his loving companion of 23 years, Marilyn J. Royer of Zanesville; two sons, Robert (Gail) Hartman of Dresden and Eugene (Linda) Hartman of Zanesville; two daughters, Peggy ( Dan) McNeely and Heidi (Charles) Slisher both of Newark; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and also his extended family, Lisa Thrasher, Karen, Josh, Jamie, Achil, Badar Hoff and Dona Shakley. In accordance with Gene's wishes there will be no calling hours and Private Family Services will be held at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with Pat Wiseman-Jones officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors by the United States Air Force in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
