Carl E. Orwig, 80, of Zanesville, died at 8:50 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2007 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born March 15, 1927, in Zanesville, a son of the late Herbert and Ina McKibben Orwig. Carl worked for Mosaic Tile and retired from General Electric in New Concord on March 23, 1989. He was a WWII Army Veteran, a member of Lafayette Lodge #79 F & AM, a lifetime member of VFW George Selsam Post #1058, a lifetime member of American Legion Post #29 and a member of the Good Sam Camp Club. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia "Pat" (Dave) Spragg of Zanesville; two sons, Wayne (Vicky) Orwig of Dacula, Georgia and Glenn (Cheryl) Orwig of Zanesville; three grandchildren, Janet Spragg of Zanesville, Amy Orwig of Dacula, Georgia and Brian (Samantha) Orwig of Zanesville; three great grandchildren, Kaylia, Skylor and Victoria Orwig; a brother, Robert (Shirley) Orwig of Zanesville and a sister-in-law, Peggy Orwig of Zanesville. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn G. Mansperger Orwig, who died February 23, 2004 and two brothers, Paul and William Orwig. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville where Lafayette Lodge #79 F & AM will hold services at 5:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2007 at the funeral home with Rev. Dawn Remster officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold full military rites at the graveside.
