Carl (Sonny) Waxler, age 87, died on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Genesis Hospital. He was born November 30, 1933, in Zanesville, the son of the late Carl and Evelyn (Dobbins) Waxler. Carl loved his Buckeyes, playing golf, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Cornerstone Full Gospel Church where he served as a greeter and usher.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Purdum) Waxler, whom he married December 6, 1951; three daughters, Sue Savage of New Holland, Ohio, Patty (Brian) Woodard of Pickerington, and Beverly Dove of New Holland, Ohio; a son, Dan Waxler of Zanesville; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Russell of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William Waxler, and a sister, Betty Wolfe.
Friends and family may call from 10:00 until the funeral service at 12:00 P.M. on December 16, 2020 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with Rev. Stephen J. Harrop officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville with full Military Honors to be accorded to him by the United States Navy in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29.
The family requests that self-provided face masks be worn and social distancing observed during the calling hours and funeral service.
