Cecil J. Dennis, 82, of Zanesville, died at 12:25 A.M. Monday, December 8, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 9, 1932, in South Zanesville, a son of the late William P. and Stella G. Dean Dennis. He retired as a dipper from Roseville Pottery, and also worked as a logger and dry-waller, was a member of Norval Park Church of Christ, VFW George Selsam Post #1058, and was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was an avid hunter and UNO player. Surviving are his wife Margaret Lillian Scott Dennis, whom he married June 19, 1953; children Darla (Jr) Stewart, Virgil Dennis, Bonnie Barry, Judy (Ben) Houston, Christy Dennis, and Cecil E. Dennis; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and a sister Mildred (late Johnny) Pride. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Ida Dennis Keelor; brothers Leroy Dennis, Flavil Dennis, and William Dennis; and sisters Elsie Bright, Lorena Higgins, Pauline Blum, Patricia Scott, and Goldie Dennis. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 11, 2014, with Evangelist Keith Kress officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, with full military honors being presented by the United States Air Force in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058.
