Charles Roger Bartley, 85, of Zanesville, died at 6:30A.M. on Saturday, November 01, 2014 at FairHope Hospice, Pickering House. Roger was born on April 1, 1929 in Zanesville, a son of the late Charles M. and Grace L. Miller Bartley. Roger is a United States Marine Veteran whom faithfully served our country during the Korean Conflict. He is a member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church and the American Legion. Roger retired from the IBEW and devoted over 30 years of service as a Boy Scout Leader in the Zanesville community and in Illinois and Tennessee. Roger received the Wood Badge and was an Order of the Arrow Vigil Member. Surviving are four children, Craig (Lynda) Bartley of Austin, TX., Lorri (Robert) Wright of Pickerington, Cathy (Jeff) Mathias and Scott Bartley of Zanesville; seven grandchildren, Moriah (Kevin) Johnson, Walter (Niki) Verchota, Rebecca (Beau) Christenson, Dustin (Stephanie) Mathias, Sumer Mathias, Chelsee Travierso and Jospeh Bartley; twelve great grandchildren and a niece, Linda (Kenneth) Bartley Button of Maryland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cynthia Ann Griffiths Bartley, who died in 2006; a brother, William "Bud" Bartley; a nephew, Jay Bartley; a sister-in-law, Katherine "Kay" Bartley. Friends and family may call from 6-8 P.M. on Monday, November 3, 2014 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 4, 2014. Roger will be laid to rest next to his wife, Cynthia at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, with full military honors being conducted by the United States Marines in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058.
