Charles L. Hannum, 86, of Zanesville, died at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Cedar Hill Care Center. He was born April 6, 1922, in Caldwell, Ohio, a son of the late Elmer and Laura Dennis Hannum. He retired after 26 years of service for the United States Army and later was employed by Boeing Aircraft. He was a member of VFW George Selsam Post #1058 and attended Grace United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Jeannine V. Harris Hannum, whom he married September 21, 1984, of the home; a step daughter, Lynn (David) Wolfe and a step son, Ken (Jaci) Paynter, all of Zanesville; 3 step grandchildren, Shad (Molly) Paynter, Austin Wolfe and Abby Wolfe, all of Zanesville; 2 step great-grandsons; a sister-in-law, Shirley Hannum of Zanesville; one niece and several nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Darrell Hannum. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until service time at noon Friday, October 10, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville with the Rev. Steve McGuire officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. VFW George Selsam Post #1058 will hold full military rites at the graveside.
