Charles R. Riggle

Charles Richard Riggle, 73, of Hopewell, died at 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born February 22, 1935, in Zanesville, a son of the late Carl and Margaret Sanders Riggle. He was a farmer and building contractor who owned Riggle Building, Remodeling and Repair from 1974 to 1999. He was a member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church, a former member of the Timber Run Grange and was a United States Army Korean Conflict Veteran. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Betty M. Ashton Riggle, whom he married October 3, 1958, of the home; two daughters, Beth (Robert) Murray and Debra (Jim Ball) Riggle, both of Zanesville; two sons, Keith (Theresa) Riggle and Scott (Connie McCormick) Riggle, both of Zanesville; 8 grandchildren, Shannon (Tim Messmer) Riggle, Amber Myers, Amanda Myers, Nathan Noland, Audrey (Andrew Knopp) Murray, Andrew Riggle, Tyler Riggle and Tanner Riggle; 2 great grandchildren, Mattie and Riley Messmer of Lancaster; two nephews, Clay Tharp of Avon Lake and Ernie Riggle of Zanesville and an aunt, Verna Stillwell; In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Tharp; a brother-in-law, Wayne Tharp and special dogs, Klondike and Ottie. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2008 at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Norris officiating. The United States Army in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058 will hold full military rites at the funeral home. He will be sadly missed by his family, special friends and Hopewell High School Class of 1953.
