Charles E. Scott, 89, of Zanesville, died at 1:15 A. M. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Cedar Hill Care Center. He was born April 15, 1926 in Conesville, a son of the late Charles W. and Margaret Ellen Dawson Scott. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in World War II, a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus #505. He was the owner and operator of Scott Battery Company. Charles was a 4-H advisor for twenty years for the Richvale Boys 4-H Club. He volunteered for many projects, fundraisers and community activities that were tied to 4-H. Charles's passion for nearly thirty years was flying. He learned to fly in 1969 and flew numerous cross country trips to visit places of interest and relatives. Surviving are his loving wife Mary Lou Scott; ten children, Patrick C. (Marilyn) Scott of Phoenix, Arizona, Rosemary L. (Bob) Sherfy of Zanesville, Tom A. (Patty) Scott of Zanesville, James E. (Karen) Scott of Zanesville, Daniel L. (Sue) Scott of Coshocton, Jeanette M. (Doug) Muse of Delaware, OH, Barbara M. (Jim) Lafferty of Columbus, Nancy A. ( Eric) Holmquist of Johnstown, John M. Scott of Sarasota, FL, and Greg B. (Robin) Scott of Zanesville; twenty five grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; three brothers, Richard E. (Adeline) Scott of Jacksville, FL, Bernard J. (Jean) Scott of Tontogany and Michael (Martha) Scott of Zanesville; two sisters, Marjorie Hall of Columbus and Mary M. (David) Thomas of Nashport. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Paul Scott; two grandchildren, Adam Patrick Scott and Lynette Bowden and a brother, Patrick Scott. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Friday, August 28, 2015 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where the Vigil service will be held at 7:45 P.M. A Mass of a Christian burial will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 144 N 5th St, Zanesville, OH 43701 with a Dominican Father as celebrant. Charles will be laid to rest at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville with full military honors being provided by The United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
