Clarence Gordon Dunn, 91, of Zanesville, passed from this earthly life to eternal life at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the Adams Lane Care Center. He was born May 23, 1917, in Zanesville, a son of the late Clarence and Aurelia Hart Dunn. He retired after 36 years of service at Armco Steel, was a U.S. Navy Seabees serving in World War II and a lifetime member of the VFW George Selsam Post 1058. After retiring, Clarence trained horses and enjoyed Sulky Racing, Ohio State Football, the Cleveland Browns and NASCAR. Clarence recently celebrated 19 years of Sobriety. Surviving are a daughter, Becky (Warren) Abele; two sons, Kenneth (Mary) Dunn and Tom (Cheri) Dunn Sr., all of Zanesville; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Eileen Dunn; four sisters, Marie Mercer, Margurite Tom, Elizabeth Lemmon and Martha King and a brother, Fred Dunn. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2008 at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark A. Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with full Military Honors being provided by the United States Navy with the assistance of the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
