Clarence William (C.W.) Smith

Clarence William (C.W.) Smith, 83, of Zanesville, died at 9:00 a.m. Sunday, January 8, 2011 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born November 21, 1928, in Muskingum County, a son of the late Clarence Bertie Smith and Lulu Crossan Smith Nowell. He retired after 39 years of service for Armco Steel. He was a lifetime member of the Central Presbyterian Church, where he served as clerk for 18 years and also served as Deacon, Elder and Trustee. He was the treasurer, van driver and friend of the Fellowship of Christ's Community. He was a member of Lafayette Lodge #79 F&AM. He was a former member of the West Muskingum School Board for 12 years, was a past president of the Armco Veterans Association for 12 years and was a Genesis Hospice volunteer for 10 years. Surviving are two daughters, Marla Kay Freeman of Mansfield and Denise Colleen (Paul) Allen of Zanesville; a son, Kerry Lynn (Jeanna) Smith of Crystal River, FL; four grandchildren, Kyle (Angela) Freeman of Elgin, SC and Ryan, Natalie and Isaiah Allen of Zanesville; three great grandchildren, Makayla, Destiny and Austin Freeman; and a special friend, Nancy Border of Zanesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Ann Smith. A Celebration of C.W.'s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Central Presbyterian Church, 40 N 6th St., Zanesville with Rev. Ray C. Morrison Jr. officiating. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville is entrusted with all arrangements.
