Clayton Harry Power, 81, of Zanesville, died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 25, 1929, in Zanesville, a son of the late Harry Joseph and Eva Marie Fritz Power. He retired from AEP, in Conesville in 1992 as a maintenance man. Clayton served in the U.S. Navy from 1949 - 1958. Part of that time he served on the aircraft carrier, Kearsage. He had a great interest in airplanes, especially military planes and naval ships. He was also a life member of American Legion Post 29. Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara Roberts Power, of the home; nine children, Dixie (Dave) Duemmel, Bill (Sharon) Hina and Brian (Kelly) Hina all of Zanesville; Michael Norris, Karen Barnhart, Kathy McKinney, Pamela Simpson, Jamie Armstrong and Kimberly Bateman all from out of state; grandchildren, Jeannie and Tom, Jake and Sara, and Lyndsay and Seth; three great grandchildren; also out of state, 13 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Friends may call Monday, May 23, 2011 from 2- 8 p.m. at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Clayton will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery where VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold military honors.
