Clyta Mae Blaney, 103, of Zanesville, died at 5:07 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born February 8, 1906, a daughter of the late Frank D. and Maglena Somers Simmons. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, started by her grandfather, H. B. Simmons in the late 1800's and a member of the Frat order of Eagles Lodge #302 Auxiliary. During WWII, she was employed at Timken's Roller Bearing on Linden Avenue. After the war, she was employed at David Davies where she retired after many years of service. She and her husband were great Waltz dancers in the 1930's and she still danced in her 90's. She also loved bingo and swimming. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Majorie Bosch of Lancaster; two sons, Frank Blaney and Robert O. (Lalia) Blaney, both of Zanesville; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Christy R. Blaney, who died September 2, 1977; two sons, Christy R. Blaney and an infant, Donald Blaney; a granddaughter, Gloria Jean; five sisters; a son-in-law, Howard Bosch; and a daughter-in-law, Donna M. Blaney. Friends may call from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2009 at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 3000 Dresden Road, Zanesville with Rev. Dawn Remster officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Zanesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 3000 Dresden Road, Zanesville, Ohio.
