Curtis G. Soter, 77, of Zanesville, died at 11:16 A.M. on Friday, September 25, 2015, at the Genesis Hospital Emergency Room. He was born August 31, 1938, in Sonora, a son of the late John J. and Faye A. Stotts Soter. He was a member of Maranatha Bible Church, worked for Brockway Glass and then retired after 37 years of service at General Electric, loved to fix things, enjoyed NASCAR, camping, hunting, archery and fishing. Curtis was a United States Navy Veteran . Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Marilyn A. Davidson Soter; of the home, whom he married February 19, 1961; a son, Scott (Dana) Soter of Cambridge; two daughters, Stacia Soter of Columbus and Claudia Newman of Hutto, Texas; five grandchildren, Jarod Thompson, Alexis Newman, Arica Newman, Matthew Mitchell and Alec Kandarraus; a great grandson, Jakob Vanhouten; three brothers, John (Jeanine) Soter of Zanesville, Mark (Deb) Soter of Newark and Tim (Jane) Soter of Newcomerstown and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Soter. Friends and family may call from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 30, 2015 with Pastor Chris Brown and Pastor L. Dale McCallister officiating. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery in Sonora with full military honors being presented by The United States Navy in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29 Color Guard.
