Dale V. McClure

Dale V. McClure, 76, of Zanesville, passed away Saturday morning, October 26, 2024 with his family by his side after succumbing to a long illness. He was born August 10, 1948, in Zanesville, the son of the late Guy V. and Pauline (Sanger) McClure.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by several aunts, uncles and cousins; two very special friends, DeVar Brown of Phoenix, AZ and Dannie Collopy of Zanesville, OH.

Dale joined the United Sates Navy at 17 years old in 1965. He married the love of his life, Janet, on March 4th, 1967. He then drove trucks as he raised his family, and in his forties he went to college and attained a Master’s Degree in just four years. He graduated with highest honors from the Ohio University-Athens. He then began a career as a Home Based Family Therapist in Licking county and upon retiring he taught Intro to Sociology part time at OUZ; and finished his working career at age 72; driving an ambulette for Community Ambulance.

Dale had many hobbies such as piloting small airplanes, and building (to scale) remote control trucks and trailers that had realistic lights and sounds. He also had a love for collecting train sets of varying sizes. However, his greatest joy was riding his motorcycle and traveling all over. He especially loved meeting new people along his many travels.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Janet (Reed) McClure, his son, Guy McClure, his two daughters, Tina and Dalia (Bryan) Parrish. He was a proud grandpa to 6 grandchildren including Michael (Amber), Matthew, BJ (Kailea), Amber (Thomas), Justin, and Jimmy. The apples of his eyes were his great-grandchildren Kali, Mya, and Colson. He is also survived by his brother Terry (Shirley) McClure, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind his best friend and faithful dog, Tucker.

A cremation will take place under the direction of BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVE, ZANESVILLE, with no services to be held at this time.
