Daniel E. Hennessey, 75, of Zanesville, died at 9:15 A.M. on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 11, 1939, in Zanesville, of the late Ralph and Violet M. George Hennessey. He attended Wilson Elementary School, Grover Cleveland Jr High School, one year at Zanesville Lash High School and then graduated in 1956 from the new Zanesville High School, earned his BA from Muskingum College, and was CEO of Putnam Truckload Direct (Division of P&D Transportation Inc). He was a member of First United Methodist Church and transferred membership to Faith United Methodist Church in 1960, and was always active in the Zanesville Community. Dan was recognized as the Muskingum County Hometown Hero in 2009, was inducted to the Emeritus Board of Goodwill in May of 2006 after 33 years of service and was a Past Chair Person, received the Dick Johnson Civic Leadership Award in 2009, was a member of the Ohio Trucking Association where he served as Chairman from 2002-2004 and was inducted into the Hall of Honor in 2006, Businessman of the Year by the National Republican Congressional Committee dated 2005-2006, an American Charter Membership on the Presidential Honor Roll, received the Presidential Coalition Certificate of Appreciation in 2006 from the Republican National Committee, American Registry Outstanding Professional for 2006-2007, started as a Cub Scout to Boy Scout to Eagle Scout and received the God and Country Merit, was a member of Zanesville Noon Rotary, the South Zanesville Business Association, Zanesville Chamber of Commerce, the Maysville South Business Association, the Fuel Source Advisory Council of the Public Utilities Commission, the Zanesville Country Club, Buckeye Lake Yacht Club, Muskingum County Chairman for the American Heart Association, Zanesville Art Center (Masterpiece Society), Zanesville Quarterback Club, La Fayette Lodge #79, and Past Chairman of the Finance Committee and the Discernment Council for Faith United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife Linda Waers Hennessey, whom he married August 20, 1960, of the home; a daughter Julie (Todd) Sands; a son Ralph (Raven) Hennessey; grandchildren Jessica (Sam)Stonecypher, Jennifer (Jarod) Jenkins, Mary Sands (Zach Robinson), Carrie (Donavon) Jadwin, Andrea (Billy) Janssen, Amanda Hennessey, Dallas Steele (Savannah Gillespie), Havannah Steele, and Carmella Steele; five great grandchildren, Isaac Stonecypher, Lauren Jadwin, Anya Jadwin, Caitlin Jadwin, and Armani Steele; a brother Pat (Debbie) Hennessey of Zanesville; a niece Kristen (Jason)Hardcastle of Zanesville; and nephews Brian (Jessica) Hennessey of Zanesville, Jim (Lois) Richmond, David (Melissa) Richmond, and Lance (Trudy) Richmond. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew Jason Richmond. Friends and family may call from 2:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 8, 2015, with Pastor Rob Turner officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice-Morrison House: 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701; or to Goodwill Industries International Inc: 3610 West Pike, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
