Danny L. Smith

Danny Lee Smith, 60, of Zanesville, died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2009 at his residence. He was born August 18, 1949, in Zanesville, a son of Ruth Jones Smith of Zanesville and the late Charles Smith. He was employed as a superintendent for the Zanesville Waste Water Plant, was a member of the Sharon Avenue Free Methodist Church, and was a United States Navy Vietnam War Veteran. Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife of 39 years, Gloria Gay Davis Smith, whom he married September 23, 1969, of the home; a daughter, Jennifer Engle of Frazeysburg; two sons, James (Melanie) Smith of White Cottage and Joshua (Amber) Smith of Zanesville; three sisters, Sandy (Ed) Woodrow, Marsha Hubbard, and Molly Brown, all of Zanesville; three brothers, Charles (Carol) Smith, David (Marilyn) Smith, and Mike (Melinda) Smith, all of Zanesville; and seven grandchildren. In addition to his father, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Dakota Smith. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Chuck McRobie officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold full military rites at the gravesite.
