David W. Osborne

David W. "Ozzie" Osborne, age 68, of Zanesville, Ohio, died at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2005 at the Genesis Extended Care and Rehab Center following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 2, 1936 in Zanesville the son of the late W. W. and Audrey Allen Osborne. Mr. Osborne was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church. He was a 1954 graduate of Lash High School and a 1959 graduate from Muskingum College with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics. He pursued his education and became a licensed Social Worker. For 15 years he served as a Juvenile Court Probation Officer and he retired in 1998 after 241/2 years as Executive Director of Muskingum County Big Sisters and Big Brothers. Mr. Osborne was the leader of the Jayquets Combo and played at Maria Adornetto's Restaurant as house pianist for 23 years. Surviving are his wife, Loretta M. "McPeck" whom he married April 24, 1960, of the home, a daughter, Julie Marie Osborne Baker of Canton Ohio, two sons, Bill "Ozzie" Osborne of Zanesville, and James Allen "Jane" Osborne of Chillicothe Ohio, a sister, Elinor "Paul" Osborne Harkness of Heath Ohio, six grandchildren, Kymberly, Tyler,and Kelsey Baker of Canton Ohio, Dylan and Megan Osborne of Chillicothe Ohio and Brenton Osborne of Zanesville. Friends may call 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2005 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2005 at the funeral home with the Rev. Ray Morrison officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Muskingum County.
