Dean E. Filkill

Dean E. Filkill, 71, of Hopewell, died at 1:15 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2009 at his residence. He was born February 18, 1938, in Muskingum County, a son of the late Ivan and Ardith Walker Filkill. He was a former employee for Burnham Corporation for 22 years, Conesville Coal Company Preparation and was the owner/operator of Filkill Water Well Drilling. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Nancy L. Kinney Filkill, whom he married June 15, 1955, of the home; two daughters, Janet (Larry) Mason of Columbus and Jennifer Sims of Hopewell; a son, Jeff Filkill of Hopewell; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Filkill, who died June 12, 2008. No calling hours will be observed. A cremation has been requested by the family. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville is entrusted with all arrangements.
