Dean A. Littick

Dean A. Littick, 88, of Zanesville, died at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the Helen Purcell Home. He was born March 31, 1924, in Adamsville, a son of the late Ralph H. and Lura Shuck Littick. He retired from The Borden Company after 40 years of service, was a member of St. Luke Luthern Church, Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge # 114, World War II Army Air Forces Veteran, serving in 3508th Army Air Forces as a Technical Sergeant. Dean was also a member of The VFW George Selsam Post 1058, American Legion Post 29, Am Vets and the 376th Bomb Group. He was named 2009 Hometown Hero and to the Muskingum Co. Veteran Hall of Fame. Dean was a longtime volunteer at Genesis Bethesda Hospital. Surviving are a son, Douglas Littick of Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Richard Meara of Worthington, Deanna (Drue) Schultz of Logan, Matthew Littick Meara of Worthington and Richard Littick of Sykesville, Maryland; two great grandchildren, Miciah Littick and William Littick Schultz; a sister, Carol Lee (Ron) Rollins of Zanesville; a brother-in-law, Dean Reed of Zanesville; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ann Littick, who died January 13, 2009; two daughters, Karen Littick and Cathy Meara; a brother, Dale Littick and three sisters, Eileen Olbrys, Delores Matchett and Martha Rose Reed. Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 Friday, May 18, 2012 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Brian George officiating. Dean will be laid to rest beside his wife Anna at Zanesville Memorial Park. VFW George Selsam Post 1058 in conjunction with the United States Army will hold full military rites at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1330 Pine St., Zanesville, Ohio, 43701.
