Debbie Cowan, 96, of Zanesville, died at 7:14 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Muskingum County Home East. She was born April 7, 1913, in Spoke Plant, Arkansas, the daughter of the late John and Martha Anglin Durham. Debbie was a member of the Moose Lodge # 663, a past volunteer at Christ Table, an avid bowler, playing in a league for over 30 years, an avid bingo player and flower gardner. Surviving are two daughters, Martha (Edward) Kinney of Zanesville and Sharon (Donald) Oliver of Cumberland; two sons, Oran (Jane) Cowan of Zanesville and Ervin (Tina) Cowan of Zanesville; eight grandchildren, John Cowan, Linda Bernal, Edwin Kinney, Debbie Lanch, Connie Hand, Carol Hutchins, Colleen Ayres and Erick Cowan; eighteen great grandchildren; and special friends, Ruth Moody and Norma Sowers. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Verlin E. Cowan, who died July 5, 1989; a daughter, Violet Williams; three sisters; and five brothers. Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
