Delbert "Nick" L. Giffin, 74, of Zanesville, went to be with his savior at 6:31 P.M. on Friday November 28, 2014 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born November 22, 1940 in Athens County to the late Elige and Daisy Rutter Giffin. Nick was a retire Culligan Man after 27 years of service. He is a member of the Union Tabernacle Church. Nick and his wife Gloria were foster parents to hundreds of children in the Zanesville area for over 13 years. Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Gloria J. Hammond Stephenson Giffin, whom he married on July 7, 1967; three daughters, Karen Hopkins, Debra Alexander and Tesa Giffin all of Zanesville; three sons, Michael Stephenson of Zanesville, Randy (Nikki) Giffin of Trinway, Gregory (Anita) Giffin of Zanesville; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Estep, Betty Holbrook, and Sally Kuhn; a special cousin, Jerald Giffin and many friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Keith Allen Giffin; four sisters, Dory, Rea, Rosie and Shirley; two brothers, Jack and Joe; and a close cousin, Bob Giffin. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the Union Tabernacle Church, 2425 Hartford Avenue, Zanesville, OH 43701 and one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at 11:00 A.M. at the church on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 with Rev. Terry D. Newman officiating. Nick will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Zanesville.
