Derl R. (Doc) Lee, 74. of Zanesville, Ohio, died at 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born June 3, 1930 in Zanesville, the son of the late William R. And Cleo I. Crawford Lee. Mr. Lee was decorated war veteran retiring in 1972. While serving in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, he received the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.After retiring from the military, he became associated with the City of Toledo Waste Water Sewage Treatment Plant and then moved to Zanesville where he became associated with the Zanesville Waste Water and Sewage Treatment Plant. He was a member of the Northern Lights Masonic Lodge # 0040 at Maumee Ohio, a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo,and a member of the Eagles Lodge # 302 in Zanesville. Surviving are his wife, Judy L. Kirk Lee, whom he married March 8, 1980, of the home, two daughters, Katrina E. (David) Shephard of Newark Ohio and Heidi N. (Eric) Mc Peak of Zanesville, one son, Timothy R. (Julie) Lee of Sylvania, Ohio, two step daughters, Lori L. (Frank) Franklin of Las Vegas Nevada, and Lisa A. Martin of Hardwick Ga., one sister Yvonne J. (John) Burns of Zanesville, two brothers, Carroll O. (Kern) and wife Linda Lee of Mobile Al., and Marlin (Verna) Lee of Nashport, two granddaughters, eight grandsons, four step granddaughters, one great granddaughter, three great grandsons, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, a sister inlaw,Sarah Lee of Zanesville, a mother inlaw, Alma Mautz, a father inlaw Harry Kirk, both of Zanesville. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother George C. Lee and a grandson Shawn A. Mc Peak, and his faithful companion, Chevy. Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2004 at the Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2004 at the Bolin Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Fulkerson officiating.Burial will follow at Chandlersville Cemetery with VFW George Selsam Post 1058 holding military services at the gravesite. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
