Don F. Davis, 90, a long-time resident of Hopewell, died Saturday, June 11, 2016 at his home. He was born October 14, 1925 in Zanesville, a son of the late John Jake and Ruth Robb Davis. Don graduated from Hopewell High School Class of 1943. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II where he attained the rank of Seaman 3rd Class-SVE96 aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Salamaua. He served in the Pacific from 1943-1946. Don was a farmer and worked at Columbia Gas for 19 years. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Dunlap Davis, whom he married January 31, 1944, of the home; his children, Dawn Kline, Jan Cleek, Jeff (Laura) Davis, Jeri (Paul) Swingle and Laura Ensminger; ten grandchildren;13 great grandchildren; niece Kym Groves; great nieces and great nephews and his loving dog, Rocky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dona Jean (Ronald) Groves; a granddaughter, Jennifer Berry; a great granddaughter, Kaylee Parrish and two sons-in-law, Jack D. Berry and Earl Cleek. No calling hours will be observed. A celebration of life service will be at a later date.
