Donald Wayne Allen, 91, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, October 24,, 2022 in Kokomo, IN at North Woods Village nursing home.

He was born on September 20, 1931 in Zanesville, Ohio, a son of the late Howard and Dorthy Allen. He graduated from Zanesville High School in 1950. In 1952, he attended Johnson Bible College and in 1956, he graduated from Kentucky Christian College, where he received a BA and MM degree. During his education, he served in four student ministries. His first ministry was at Perryton Church of Christ in Perryton, OH, while serving there he married Glenna Embrey in May of 1958.  His next ministries include, First Church of Christ in Caldwell, OH, First Christian Church in Oblong, IL , Licking Valley Church of Christ in Newark, OH, Scottdale Church of Christ in Scottdale, PA, First Christian Church in Martins Ferry, OH, Austin Christian Church in Austin, IN, and retired at Mt. Carmel Christian Church in Trafalgar, IN in 2010.

His hobbies included running and walking, hunting, golfing, and painting. He was a huge fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed traveling and nature and painting the beautiful outdoors. His greatest joy was teaching and preaching God’s word. During his retirement years, he enjoyed serving as a member of the staff of North Terrace Church of Christ in Zanesville, OH. He was a loving father, devoted husband, and wonderful grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his brother, Loren (Ruthann) Allen, his sister, Betty Wheeler, his son, Stephen (Carrie) Allen of Kokomo, Indiana; daughter Janie Haskell of Chevy Chase, Maryland; six grandchildren Brooke (Aaron) Miller, Brett (Bruce) Cooley, Breanna (Grant) McKercher, Brice (Andrew) Piotrowski, Lindsay Haskell, and Olivia Haskell;  great grandchildren Mark Cooley, William Cooley, Peter Cooley, Charles Cooley, Lucy Cooley, Lex Miller, Jameson Miller, Hope Miller, Ellie McKercher, Seth McKercher, Emilia Piotrowski, Azila Prien, and Azwele Prien. He also has several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one grandchild, Bradley Haskell.

Visitation will take place from 4-6 PM Friday, October 28, 2022 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, OH where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022.  Burial will be in Fultonham Cemetery.
