Donald Ivan Filkill, 73, of Hopewell, died at 3:05 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008 at his residence. He was born December 15, 1934, in Zanesville, the son of the late Ivan and Ardith Walker Filkill. Donald was a truck driver, farmer and was the former owner and operator of the West Main bait and tackle shop. He was a Korean Air Force Veteran. Surviving are his wife, Sherry Madinger Filkill of the home; six daughters, Debra Webster of Theodore, Ala, Leesa Weaver of Wilmer, Ala., Cathy Creech of Hopewell, Connie Bruce of Zanesville, Lori Hoffer of Zanesville and Steffanie Filkill of Zanesville; five sons, Jesse Filkill of Hopewell, Chris Hoffer of Mt Perry, Albert Hoffer of Zanesville, Darren Filkill of Fl. and Mark Filkill of Zanesville; a brother, Dean (Nancy) Filkill of Hopewell; twenty nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two future great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Donald Lee White, Daniel Patrick Filkill and Randall Lee Filkill. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday June 18, 2008 at the funeral home with Rev. Roger McElfresh officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold military services at the gravesite.
