Donald R. Hayes

Donald R. (Dick) Hayes, 82, of Zanesville, died at 7:20 A.M. Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Clay Gardens, Zanesville. He was born February 21, 1933 in Chandlersville, a son of the late Emmett and Hazel Hamilton Hayes. He and his wife Wanda where the oldest members of the Zanesville Bible Methodist Church. He retired from Anchor Glass, was a member of the SAMS Camping Club, enjoyed gardening, car shows, camping, Cleveland Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Wanda C. Byers Hayes, whom he married December 31, 1953; two sons, Rodney (Karen) Hayes of Zanesville and Jerry (Patti) Hayes of New Lexington; grandchildren, Shane (Julie) Hayes, Amanda ( Chris) Heppner, Adam (Sheena) Hayes, Deanna (Joe) Lear, Adam (Chris Nash) Hatem and Doug (Lynn) Swingle; great grandchildren, Kayla, Anna, Daylin, Jimmy, Peyton, Emily, Brandon and Haleigh; great great grandchildren; Logan, Riley and Silas; sister-in-laws, Bonnie Hayes and Edna Ellis; special sister-in-law, Margaret Hayes plus many camping and church friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Welcome (Jr.) Hayes, Robert Hayes, Fred "Buss" Ellis and Fred Hayes. Friends and family may call from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUENRAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the funeral home with Rev. William Blair II officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
